Marc Lievermont admits France's shortcomings – Six Nations update
Marc Lievermont, the French coach finally spoke out on his side’s shortcomings and admitted the weaknesses of France in second half. He believes that a poor demonstration of attacking skills in second half cost them a lot and gave them their first defeat
in RBS Six Nations since two years. After the 17-9 defeat by England the grip of Marc Lievermont on Six Nation’s trophy has been loosened.
The score remained level at 9-9 for a very long period of time, but the French side lost control of the ball in second half and England enjoyed the dominance in an away match at Twickenham. After Ben Foden’s try in first few minutes of second half took France
by blow and Lievermont’s side couldn’t recover the damage.
Marc Lievermont said, “I am truly let down for my players. At half-time, we had in knowledge that it was going to be an extremely hard and fierce match, but we made a terrible launch to the second half, and that was the key factor for England’s success.”
Lievermont seemed very disappointed and was expecting more from his side. He believes that the stability in the first half should have been utilized as a tool and his side should have taken England by surprise.
He added, “The first 40 minutes were well balanced, but our side stayed extremely flimsy. It was very hard to come back with a run and score yet again. We had to score twice in order to make a difference, and the visitors were fitter than us.”
Concluding his confession talk he advised England coldly, “They are a very good quality side, but they only had a victory of 17-9, and still have to take a step ahead to make it first class and to improve their rugby.”
