The Amsterdammers sporting director has stressed that he would love to see the Danish wonder-kid playing for a top European club, while insisting that his side wants to see the 20-year-old putting pen to paper on a contract extension.
Ajax Amsterdam sporting director, Marc Overmars, has revealed that his side desperately wants http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Christian-Eriksen-c9074 to sign an extension to his ongoing contract.
The 20-year-old has an ongoing contract at Amsterdam Arena that runs until the summer of 2014. However, rumours are rife that the youngster would be joining a top European club after the end of the 2012/13 season following immense interest from abroad including
the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429, AC Milan, Bayern Munich and many others.
Recent reports in Dutch media indicated that the Danish midfield maestro has made it clear that he will not be signing a new contract with the Amsterdam giants, and will be moving to one of the elite European clubs before the start of the 2013/14 campaign.
And Overmars has confirmed that the young playmaker is currently not interested in signing an extension to his ongoing contract, though, his side is keen to retain his services for at least another couple of seasons.
“We want Christian to sign a new contract, but it is not currently something he wants to do. We will see what happens after this year”, the Ajax sporting director was quoted as saying to the media.
The 20-year-old, who has thus far netted 22 goals while setting up an extraordinary 43 more in 128 appearances in all competitions for the Amsterdammers, has been linked with a number of European clubs following his brilliant performances in the last couple
of seasons.
Although, De Joden chief has admitted that he does not want to see the youngster leaving the Eredivisie giants, he has insisted that the versatile midfielder must choose the right club.
“I would really like to see Christian at a major European club, to see how that goes. He can play at any big club that would be no problem. You should not be worried that clubs like http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 and Real Madrid would not count on him. It is only important he
chooses the right club”, Overmars concluded.
