West Ham United are rumoured to be interested in the Serbian ace’s services, but the Ajax Amsterdam sporting director has refused to name out the clubs keeping tabs on the former Heerenveen attacker.
Ajax Amsterdam winger, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Miralem-Sulejmani-c25985, has long been linked with a move away from Amsterdam Arena this summer, as several top flight clubs have been rumoured to acquire his services before the ongoing summer transfer window slams shut.
Reports in English media indicated that West Ham United and Reading are taking keen interest in signing the former Heerenveen winger, whose contract at Amsterdam Arena is due to expire at the end of the 2012/13 campaign.
Marc Overmars, the Amsterdammers sporting director, has confirmed that there are several clubs interested in landing his side’s attacker, but the former Dutch international refused to name out the club.
“There is serious interest in Miralem. But I cannot name out the club”, Overmars was quoted as saying to the Dutch media.
The highly-talented forward, who joined the 31-time Dutch champions in the summer of 2008 after representing Heerenveen in 34 league matches, has made close to 100 league appearances for the Dutch powerhouse.
Netting 29 goals while providing a bagful of assists, the Serbian ace has played an integral role in his side’s accomplishments in the past couple of seasons.
However, the 23-year-old has been out of action since March 2012 after sustaining a serious injury in his left knee, and has yet to return to the pitch.
Regardless of his injury, interested clubs still want to lure the attacker away from Amsterdam Arena before the ongoing summer transfer window slams shut, and Overmars has confirmed that the level of interest is severe.
“In any case, the level of interest in Miralem is great”, the Amsterdammers chief added.
Apart from Sulejmani, Gregory van der Wiel has also garnered interest from a host of top flight clubs. Paris Saint-Germain and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 are said to be among his keen admirers, but the Ajax sporting director has revealed that his side has yet to receive an
offer for the talented right-back.
“We have yet to hear from any interest club”, Overmars concluded.
