Marc Zwiebler stuns Du Pengyu in Men’s Singles event of 2013 Singapore Open – Badminton News  
An upset was seen in the pre quarter-final round of Li Ning Singapore Open as a lower ranked shuttler, Marc Zwiebler, sent Du Pengyu packing on Thursday, June 20, 2013.

He employed an unbeatable strategy and confounded his rival with a perfect blend of power packed smashes and cleverly placed drop net shots. He finished first half of the set with a mountainous figure of 11 and then capitalised
this advantage in latter part of the game.
After the one-minute interval, Du Pengyu bagged many valuable points in a row and strengthened his grip. He did not lose focus and won this crucial game with 21-12 margin.
The decider proved toughest part of this encounter as both challengers put all they had to claim this final match point. They chased each other all the way to game point situation and finally this nerve-racking tussle ended when
Marc Zwiebler registered a winning total of 21-19.
Now he will lock horns with Tien Minh Nguyen in the quarter-finals of Singapore Open.
