PSV Eindhoven technical director, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marcel-c23507 Brands, has confirmed that his side is unlikely to lure any new faces to Philips Stadion in the upcoming January transfer market.
Rumours were rife that the Boeren would be spending heavily in the upcoming winter transfer window to strengthen their squad through which they can successfully mount a title assault.
In addition, injury lay-offs to two of their key players, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Erik-Pieters-c12766, Ola Toivonen and Mark van Bommel, further hiked speculations regarding PSV’s intentions of adding new faces to their squad.
Earlier last month, the PSV head coach, d**k Advocaat, also expressed his desire to bring in some quality players to Philips Stadion in the January transfer market to enhance his side’s chances of winning silverware come the end of the ongoing 2012/13 campaign.
However, the Boeren technical director has now made it clear that his side does not intend to bring in reinforcements in the January transfer window, while insisting that an investment will only be made that would help them in the long run.
“If we do that [bring signings in], then it is only if it is a responsible investment for the future”, Brands was quoted as saying to Eindhovens Dagblad.
The 50-year-old went on to reveal that his side will evaluate Pieters and Toivonen’s injury lay-offs.
“First, we'll look at when Erik Pieters returns from his injury and how the early stages of Toivonen's rehabilitation expires”, Brands added.
The Dutchman has also revealed that the club is interested in bringing in players from their own youth academy to the senior squad just like http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Feyenoord-c39258 Rotterdam in order to save money.
“We've seen how a young talent can suddenly show up at Feyenoord”, Brands concluded.
