Marcel Siem takes lead at the French Open
Day 2 of the French Open ended at the Le Golf National and the fans got their money’s worth. After two days of nail biting golf, Germany’s Marcel Siem is on the top.
Marcel Siem had a good first day, during which he finished at three-under par. On the first day of the Open, he carded four birdies and a bogey, which came on the eighth hole.
Siem’s second day was similar to his first one. He had a good start on the front nine. He was able to card four birdies on the first nine holes, which made his score four-under par.
On the 14th hole of the back nine, Siem scored another birdie that made his score, at the time, eight-under par. Unfortunately for the German, his perfect day was ruined by a double bogey on the seventeenth hole.
For Siem, there were no eagles or bogeys for the day, so his score at the end of day two was six-under par, which enabled him to occupy the first position. On both the days, the German completed the 7347 yards course in 68 shots.
After another successful day of golf, in an interview, the German said, “If you shoot a few under on the golf course, it doesn't matter what are the conditions, it's a good score. I've shot two times three under now, so I'm very happy and I hope I keep it
going like that”.
“I had just made double bogey before that. Then on 18, would have been my first shot after the lightning. I was a bit steamy there, and actually it was good for me I reckon that we got called off the course,” he added.
The 31-year-old was very happy with his game and the way the tournament turned out to be. He also said that towards the end of the day, it was all calm and it was very comfortable to play.
The second position after the second day was occupied by Sweden’s Alexander Noren, who had a score of five-under par. Andre Hensen and George Coetzee ended the day with a four-under par and were tied at the third spot.
