Marcel Wyss has accepted an offer from the German side Team NetApp for the 2012 season.
The cyclist represented Team Geox-TMC in the past season and could not secure any major victories during his stay.
Team NetApp is all set to make its Grand Tour debut at the Giro d’ Italia 2012 and the cyclist is looking forward to represent the team on the Italian soil.
The UCI Professional Continental team was impressive during its debut appearance. It secured five victories during the 2010 season.
Daniel Schorn helped the team with a stage 3 victory at the Tour de Normandie.
He secured the second and the sixth stages at the Tour de Slovaquie and became the most successful cyclist of the team.
Jan Bárta, Jérôme Baugnies, Cesare Benedetti, Matthias Brändle, Andreas Dietziker, Markus Eichler, Reto Hollenstein, Bartosz Huzarski, Grischa Janorschke and Blaž Jarc will represent the team in the 2012 season.
Leopold König, Andreas Schillinger, Daniel Schorn, André Schulze, Michael Schwarzmann, Timon Seubert, and Marcel Wyss will also ride along the German team in 2012.
Team Manager Ralph Denk briefed that Marcel’s inclusion in the team will definitely strengthen the side for the Giro d’ Italia 2012.
He noted, "Marcel will be a backing to our tour specialists in view of our participation in the Giro In the last two years he has shown that he is reliable in the Giro".
He added, "Marcel has been a key supporter for his captains, but has also taken advantage of opportunities to have his own success".
"With this profile, he is a great addition to our classification riders of [Matthias] Brändle, [Bartosz] Huzarski and [Leopold] König,” Ralph continued.
The 25-year-old is considered as one of the best all-round cyclists in the sport and it will be his third Giro Participation after the 2010 and the 2011 editions of the race.
He claimed the 33rd and the 38th spots during the past two versions of the Italian Grand Tour.
The Swiss occupied the eighth overall spot at the Tour de Romandie and 13th at the Tour of Austria 2011.
Marcel is still searching for his first professional victory and is optimistic to fill his pockets during the Giro d’ Italia 2012.
