Marcell Jansen hopes to make a return to the German national team – Bundesliga news
Hamburg SV left-back, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marcell-Jansen-c23544, has insisted he is hopeful of making a comeback into the national side after an injury plagued 2010-/1 season with his club. The player admitted that he is working hard on his fitness and wants to be well prepared for
the next campaign.
The former Borussia Monchengladbach player was an integral part of Joachim Low’s side for the past few years and also featured in last year’s FIFA World Cup in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Uruguay-c3035 but has since
lost his place due to an injury.
Joachim Low had earlier revealed that he wanted the player to be fit for next season and be consistent with his performances for the club if he wants to make a comeback to the national side.
“I told http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marcel-c23507: 'You need to work hard at your fitness over the summer and complete a full season for Hamburg – otherwise we'll have to do without you,” the tactician stated.
Jansen praised the coach for his support and admitted that he has not been good enough to break into the first team considering his inconsistent form for Hamburg and his injury woes. He hopes to be fit before the next campaign so that he could start the
season well and be a part of Die Mannschaft for the European Championships in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Poland-c2983 next year.
“I agree with the national coach and I'm thankful for his honesty. I have been injured too often, but I couldn't have done anything about it. I want to be 100 per cent fit for the new season. The national team coach has assured me that I'll always be an
option for him if I'm fit. That gives me confidence for the future,” the former Bayern Munich player was quoted as saying in an interview.
The German international made only 17 appearances for Hamburg last season, scoring only two goals compared to the ten he scored in the previous campaign. The player has 36 international caps to his name, scoring three times.
