The 2006 World Cup winner slams the press for being too temperamental, and hails the Rossoneri coach for consistent results over the years.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926 legend has stood up for under fire AC Milan manager, criticising the critics for being too extremist in their views of Massimiliano Allegri.
The Rossoneri manager’s long-term future has been subjected to a lot of speculation by the media, following the team’s exit from the Coppa Italia and the Champions League. The Diavolo also lost their supremacy at the top of the
league, but only trail Juventus by a single point in the Scudetto race.
The former Italy manager insisted that the fact eludes him that how Italian press can make a hero out of someone one day, only to dismiss him as a complete failure the next. The veteran insisted that for more than a year Allegri
has yielded impressive results for AC Milan, and deserves the credit for his work with the champions.
The former Juventus coach was all praise for the Rossoneri chief, and hailed the manager as a true leader.
In his newspaper column, the 64-yaer-old said:
“I don’t understand how in Italy one day you can be the best and the next you can be sacked. For a year and a half Allegri has gained great results and they have not been achieved by chance. Allegri has overseen this cycle as
a true leader.”
The veteran coach insisted that Allegri's presence at a top side like AC Milan is a testament to the manager’s proven quality, and insisted that he ranks him among the series of young winners like Arrigo Sacchi, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Capello and
Carlo Ancelotti, who have played a great role in constructing the modern base of the club with innovation and motivation.
“Milan didn’t pick him by luck, he’s part of a series of young winners – like Arrigo Sacchi, Fabio Capello, Carlo Ancelotti – who, with great motivation and tactical innovations, have constructed the recent history of this club.”
Lippi insisted that it is shallow to blame the great coach for the success of his rivals, Juventus.
AC Milan are currently placed just one-point behind the leaders, and it remains to be seen if the Rossoneri manager can lead the team to another Scudetto, just like the year before.
