Marcello Lippi targets return to coaching
Former Italy national team coach Marcello Lippi has revealed that he is aiming for a return to club management.
Lippi has been out of work since leaving the Italy set-up after their woeful 2010 FIFA World Cup campaign.
Though he freely admits that he made some mistakes during this summer’s tournament, he has insisted that his 2006 World Cup victory with Italy should be enough to put him in a prime position to win a job with a club.
In an interview with Sky, the 62-year-old said that: "I have made errors, but I have won a World Cup and want to remain in the world of football. In my career, I have done many things right, but I have also made the odd error.
'I will remain in the football world'
"We must not forget all the right things I have done in the past. My brain works well, and is switched on. I do not feel like I am an ex-coach. I will return to coaching, even if I don't know where. Even if this were to not happen, I will remain in the football
world because of all the records I have, as they will be written in history."
Lippi has enjoyed a career which has seen him coach several of Italy’s top clubs, including Juventus, Inter Milan and Napoli.
Well before his World Cup triumph, he had established himself with Juventus, with whom he won five Italian league titles, the UEFA Champions League (a competition in which he reached the final an additional three times with the club, four Italian Super Cups,
an Italian Cup, a European Supercup and the Intercontinental Cup.
Lippi has recently been linked with taking over as Roma boss from Claudio Ranieri and has also been rumoured with a move to English Football League Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers.
