The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Athletic-Club-c38535 trainer was not pleased with his side’s goalless draw against their Andalusian rivals, claiming that his charges should have come out of the meeting with the three points on offer.
After a dull contest at the San Mames, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marcelo-c23554 Bielsa claimed that Athletic Bilbao should have won the encounter in front of home fans.
The Argentine tactician acknowledged that both teams put on a lacklustre display with few goal scoring chances being shared between the two Spanish Primera Division’s outfits, but claimed that his side did enough to warrant the victory.
“It was a game of few chances but if there had to have been a winner then it should have been us because we had the more clear-cut opportunities,” the Argentine trainer shared.
Analyzing the details of the fixture, Bielsa claimed that Athletic Bilbao have negatives and positives to take from their domestic meeting with Malaga. The former Chilean national team manager criticised his players for their failure to do anything of note
with their greater ball possession.
“However, what matters from our perspective is that we had a lot of the ball but could not manage to win.”
“The positive thing is that we defended well but the negative aspect is that we had many minutes of possession and did not produce many offensive actions.”
While Bielsa bemoans the goalless draw, Malaga head coach, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manuel-c23383 Pellegrini, shared that he is pleased with the points shared between his charges and Los Leones.
The former Real Madrid and Villarreal coach admitted that it was a dull affair but did not shy away from revealing his happiness at taking a point from their difficult away trip.
Pellegrini also took out time to downplay the affects of Malaga’s midweek UEFA Champions League meeting with Zenit St Petersburg.
He pointed out that Los Anchovies failed to make the most of their possession but their match against Russian Premier League title contenders did not have anything to do with it.
“I don’t think we noticed any fatigue after Tuesday’s game but we struggled when we had the ball,” the witty tactician remarked while reflecting questions posed by media representatives in the post match press conference.
