Question:

Marching Band Hair Help...?

by  |  earlier

I'm starting my freshman year of high school. I'm in the band and our first football game is this friday. The director said all girls must wear their hair up and tucked into our hats. Does anyone know the best method to put my hair up, and have it stay up. My hair falls about 4 inches below my shouldars and is cut in layers. Any help? Thanks so much.

  1. ew band yuck! put it up real high

  2. i had the same problem.

put what you can in a really high ponytail or a bun. then take the remaining peices and use pins to keep them in place. ask a friend to help you if you want to keep it looking stylish. then if you still want to look nice after you take off the helmet, go to a hair store and ask the clerk to recommend a hairspray you can use that is not affected by sweat. i recommend the hairspray called big s**y hair. it comed in a red can. it's expensive but man it can handle anything!!!

have fun in band. hope i helped!!!

  3. If you guys have shako's (the regular plain marching hats...) I'd say pull it into a low ponytail and then hold the ponytail up while you put on your shako, ensuring that the part with the hair tie is showing. That way your hair will be up and you'll have a little extra bulk to keep your shako on tighter.

But if you don't have shako's, just follow the example of the other girls.

OH! And pull your bangs back with a bobby pin. I have to do that and I'm a guy...haha.

  4. what you do is put your hair in a pony tail and then either use bobby pins, hair clips or a headband to hold extra pieces in place. Then for extra pieces try hair gel, like got 2b hair gel.http://mp.hairboutique.com/got2b/B/1039

this is some of there products

    good luck & have fun

  5. try putting it up as much as you can in a ponytail, and then use some clips or bobby pins... but if you have some coming out from under your hat (like max. a few inches) it really shouldn't be a issue.

tip: bend over scoop your hair up then put your hat on before standing up again; helps get shorter pieces to stay up!

  6. Put your hair up. Put an elastic headband around your neck. Then, turn your head upside down (so that all of your hair falls forward), and push the headband onto your head. If your hair is really soft, and you can't keep it in, take two hair clips, and close to your ears, pin the headband to your hair. That's what I do for band!

    Hope this helped!

  7. Tie it in a high ponytail then either twist or plait it wrap it round so it's in a tight bun then use another bobbel to keep that in place. I also have layered hair so you can get a few of the shorter layers dropping out so you should pin these with grips or clips before hand,  check that you have tied it high enough so you can easily slip your hat on and off and have fun with the band!!!
