  1. That's not really something that can be explained on here. It's more of a visual thing and you have to learn by doing. Maybe there are some videos on youtube that could help you. Other than that I think the best way to learn is by joining marching band and learning by experience.  Also different bands have different ways for doing things so the way one band steps off and does commands etc. may be different from another band.

  2. well, this is gonna be a little hard to explain instead of showing, but im gonna give it my best.

you always step of with the left foot.

you'll get a "mark time, mark," from your drum major, or director and that will tell you the tempo to march in.

when they say "mark time, mark" you'll start picking up your heels as if your marching, but its to get the beat going...kind of?  and then after they say that they'll say "forward [or backwards] march"  so that'll tell you what direction to go.

uhm. theres left face, right face, about face [which is a 180 turn] and if you join the band...youll learn all of this, i promise. our band has a freshman week, where all freshman and new band members come to learn to march in the morning and then in the evening everyone comes and we play music. but anyways.

try this video. i didnt get a chance to watch it because it wouldnt load for me. hopefully itll work for you and maybe help a little with things. but, if it doesnt you can search for other ones that might help you. hope i was helpful!!
