Marching baritone valve problem!?please i need help!?

the #2 valve on my marching bartone wont lock into place instead when i play the valve turns and the air is flow is disrupted i believe that the part that holds the valve in the right positoin is broken if so how much would it cost to repair?

  1. Chances are, it is a valve guide that is broken. The valve guide was made of plastic. I would suggest replacing all three with brass valve guides. They are not expensive, but they are very necessary. A good repair shop should have these in stock.

    Or, it could be that the valve guide was actually a small piece of brass which was soldered or spot welded to the valve itself. The only way to know for sure is to compare it with the other valves.

    I would suggest calling your local repair shop about your problem. Tell them the make and model of the instrument, and take it there ASAP.
