Marcin Gortat, Tyler Hansbrough - Players expected to excel in next NBA season: Part 1
The NBA season is in a peril as lockout has already led to cancellation of first two weeks and probability of whole season getting terminated is aggrandizing with every passing day now.
Owners and players are stiff on their stance and does not looks like they will reach a deal anytime soon. However, there is a still a possibility of a shortened season like that of 1998-199 in which number of games were slashed
to half as a consequence to the lockout.
NBA’s fame has skyrocketed with time so it is hard to swallow that both owners and players will be complacent with skipping an entire season, therefore, there will be a season no matter how many games are lost.
There are players who have already proved themselves but then there are players who were expected to make it big but have not been able to deliver yet. However, they are augmenting with every season. Here are some of the players
who are poised for a breakout season when the lockout ends.
Marcin Gortat:
Orlando Magic failed to use Marcin properly. Before he was traded to Phoenix Suns last December, he was only used as a backup to Dwight Howard spending most of the games on bench.
Orlando’s coach would only use him for 15 minutes in the court and though he did display his productive skills in that limited time, unfortunately failed to play for a much longer time in most of the games.
Moving to Phoenix Suns proved to be a blessing in disguise for both Marcin and Phoenix. Not only he managed to improve his stats tremendously but by the end of the season, he was the most lethal player on the roster other than
the Giant Steve Nash.
He stunned everyone with his amazing aggressiveness, breathtaking jump shots and ability to rebound, pick, block and roll. He was a consistent double-double threat throughout the season and ended with an average of 13 points 9.3
rebounds.
High on confidence, this year he would be even better than last year. His stats from last year concrete the fact that any given day, if he is allowed to play freely, he can score more than 15 points and 10 rebounds. In Marcin,
Phoenix have now found a complete centre.
Tyler Hansbrough:
Selected by Indiana Pacers in the first round of 2009 NBA draft, Tyler failed to make an immediate impact. He only managed to play 29 games in his rookie season and ended with an average of 8.5 points and 4.2 rebounds.
However in his second season, he improved his stats significantly. He played 70 games including 29 starts and managed to finish with an average of 11 points in the end. He is not fibrous on defense but if he can chip in with 11-15
points in the starting minutes of the game, he could be a handful for Pacers.
He might not have an outstanding year this season but his stats are definitely going to improve. Teams like Indiana are not loaded with stars so Tyler has a major chance to emerge as the backbone of team by leading from the front.
