Marco Antonio Barrera wants Pacquiao to face Bradley before Marquez – Boxing News
Marco Antonio Barrera, legendary Mexican fighter, is of the view that Manny Pacquiao should first face Timothy Bradley in a rematch and then go for a fourth match against Juan Manuel Marquez.
Manny Pacquiao lost his WBO welterweight title to Timothy Bradley in a 12-round fight on June 9 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The decision soon received negative remarks from fans and analysts all around the world, as most of them saw Pacquiao winning the
fight with a wide margin. However, the judges maintained that Pacquiao lost to Bradley.
Like everyone else, even Barrera believes Pacquiao won the fight. In his recent interview, the Mexican proud iterated, “Manny Pacquiao won the fight, I think so. Bradley won only two or three rounds.”
Barrera has fought Pacquiao twice. He lost the first match to the Filipino via knockout in the eleventh round and he lost the second match to Pacquiao via unanimous decision. Barrera is a fighter who has faced the Pacman first hand and so he knows what the
Filipino proud is capable of.
When asked about Pacquiao’s last encounter with Marquez, Barrera said, “I think Pacquiao won the fight. Marquez didn’t throw many punches. He did what was necessary to win the fight.”
Barrera was if he is interested to watch another Pacquiao vs. Marquez fight or a Pacquiao vs. Bradley rematch, to which he replied, “The rematch with Bradley. The fight for Manny Pacquiao is the rematch.”
Manny Pacquiao is currently considering to fight either Bradley or Marquez. He wanted to go head to head with Floyd Mayweather, but since the unbeaten American WBC light welterweight titlist is in prison, there are rare chances of him accepting a match with
Pacquiao.
Pacquiao’s last meeting with Bob Arum did not end up with a decision as to whom the Filipino will face next. Hall of Famer promoter Bob Arum is hoping to meet Pacquiao this week in order to decide the former champion’s November 10 opponent. There are chances
of Pacquiao colliding with Marquez for the fourth time, and then the Filipino claiming his rematch against the current WBO champion Bradley.
