Marco Belinelli’s layup takes New Orleans Hornets over Golden State Warriors in a thriller: NBA Recap
The New Orleans Hornets went into the Oracle Arena on Tuesday night to face the Golden State Warriors and came out with a narrow win, 83-81.

Marco Belinelli scored a game high 23 points, including a game-winning layup with 0.7 seconds left on the clock. That shot was goal tended and the basket counted to give the Hornets an 83-81 victory.

It was a low scoring match with no team scoring more than 22 points in any quarter. Klay Thompson had a team high 16 points for Golden State.
"I just loved our defense tonight. I thought we were outstanding holding that team to 17 points (in the fourth quarter). We played the right way” said Hornets head coach Monty Williams.
It was a close game throughout, with the Warriors leading 22-21 at the end of the first period and the game tied at 43 at half time. No team managed a double digit lead at any point in the game, which involved
13 lead changes and 5 ties.
Golden State had an 81-76 advantage with 2 minutes left in the game. The Hornets, however, came back with a three pointer from Belinelli, followed by a layup by Greivis Vasquez to tie the game at 81 with a minute
left.
On the final possession of the game the Warriors missed three field goal attempts, the last one from Charles Jenkins being blocked by Gustavo Ayon. The Hornets ran towards the other end with time winding down
and Belinelli was able to put the layup for the win just in time. The shot was goal tended and the Hornets won 83-81.
"I don't know if it's the best or worst game-winner of the season, but we won a game, and that's important for us and our fans, too” said Belinelli after the game.
Ayon had 13 points and 7 rebounds for the night to go with his 4 blocked shots for the Hornets. Vasquez had 11 points and 7 assists, while Carl Landry had 14 points and 6 rebounds for the night.

Jeremy Tyler scored 13 points and grabbed 8 rebounds for the Warriors, but was cold from the field shooting 5 of 17 for the night. Brandon Rush came off the bench to score 15 points, going 6 of 9 from the field
including 3 of 4 from distance.
The Hornets outnumbered the Warriors 43-37 in rebounds and 9-6 in steals. The Warriors shot 41.8% from the field and 42.9% from the distance. New Orleans were 43.7% from the field and 40% from beyond the arc.
The Hornets have the worst record in the Western Conference, but are 7-3 in their last 10 games. The change of ownership of the New Orleans club has proven to be a good thing for them and hopefully, they can
come back next year and build on the momentum.
