Despite several setbacks in recent days, Ligue 1 side Olympique de Marseille continue their search for a suitable striker. Reports in French media now suggest that Italian international Marco Borriello is under the radar of the Rhone giants.
“There were three or four teams that contacted me until the last day of the transfer window. I was not sure how it would end. That’s why I met sporting director Walter Sabatini on August 30 who confirmed that I was no longer on the transfer list and that
I was a major player at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603. The next morning I saw Luis Enrique who said the same thing. That’s why I decided to stay,” were the words of the Italian international after the end of the transfer window.
Unfortunately, the promises of both Luis Enrique and Signor Sabatini became hollow just weeks after the start of the 2011/2012 Serie A campaign. The former AC Milan man has not played for Lupi in over a month and it seems that career at Roma is coming to
an unceremonious end.
Currently competing for a place in the starting XI with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Franco-c14050 Borini, the Italian is certainly not promised of a lot of game time this season.
For weeks, the striker has been linked with moves to Genoa and former club AC Milan who are interested in the player in order to fill the gap left by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Antonio-Cassano-c6302 who is out for a long time due to a cardiac complication.
Reports now suggest that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 are keen on the experienced striker as Didier Deschamps looks to bring in a player who can help him change the fortunes of a team that has indeed made a woeful start to the new campaign.
After reports linking http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-Quagliarella-c13194 (Juventus) to the Stade Velodrome, it is now Borriello’s turn to be on the transfer wish list of Les Phoceens.
Andre-Pierre Gignac, who has been out of favour since the beginning of the campaign is likely to be sent out on loan this winter which means that Marseille will have an extra spot in their roster which is likely to be filled in by a striker.
