Marco Borriello to be rested, Adriano might feature for Roma
According to the latest media reports in Italy, Roma tactician Claudio Ranieri will rest Marco Borriello tomorrow against CFR Cluj. The bulky forward has featured heavily for Roma this season and the coach believes the former Milan man deserves some rest.
Mirko Vucinic is set to partner Francesco Totti upfront following the striker’s injury time winner against Inter Milan on Saturday. Vucinic’s confidence will be sky-high following his telling contribution and the coach seems to agree.
AS Roma will welcome Romanian outfit CFR Cluj to Olimpico in the second round of UEFA Champions League football and the Roman club is expecting an easy outing. According to the reports, Adriano might feature at some point during the match. The former Inter
star will be given the entire second half if Roma manage to create a comfortable lead in the second half. Adriano was once labelled the best striker in the world but the striker has been fighting for form and fitness over the past couple of years. The Brazilian
returned to Europe after a short since in his native Brazil. Adriano isn’t expected to feature heavily in Roma’s season following the arrival of Borriello and the striker must take the opportunity with both hands whenever presented.
Claudio Ranieri has earned himself the nickname “Tinker man” for his frequent experimentation and the trend is likely to continue. Skipper Francesco Totti has come out in defence of his coach.
Ranieri has a long history of tinkering and his decision has been defended by Captain Francesco Totti, “when you have such a strong attacking line up, it’s really hard for the coach to decide on his starting eleven. “
Totti was publicly criticized by former Lazio skipper Di Canio following his antics after being substituted against Inter Milan. Totti has decided against starting a war of words, “It is really hard to come off the pitch when a player is playing good”. Totti
has been below par this season as he has failed to hit the back of the net even once. Totti is Roma’s main source of inspiration and the striker’s form will be of critical importance throughout the season. Roma lost their opening Champions League match to
Bayern Munich by a 2 – 0 score line and must aim for maximum points at home against a weak opposition.
