for the knockout faces following an historic win over Borussia Dortmund at the Signal Iduna Park in their last group game.
However, with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ghana-c2905 international Andre Ayew set to leave the Rhone club in January 2012 to represent his country in the upcoming African Cup of Nations, Didier Deschamps is in dire need of a good replacement for the talented winger.
Since the beginning of the new campaign, Ayew has been a beacon of hope for Les Phoceens and his performances have played a big role in Marseille’s revival following a poor start to the 2011/2012 Ligue 1 Championnat.
Le Parisien now reports that Olympique de Marseille have once again revived their interest in Borriello. The 29-year-old was rumoured to be on the verge of signing for Marseille in the summer transfer window. However, the move never materialised.
Reports now indicate that Marseille are back in contention for signing the former AC Milan man.
Italian sports daily, Il Corriere dello Sport revealed, “Roma have decided to say farewell to Borriello – Towards Marseille?”
Completely sidelined by the Lupi coach Luis Enrique, the Azzurri international will certainly be placed in this winter’s transfer list and the club will let go of the player if the financial requirements are met.
Under contract at the club until June 2014, the residents of Stade Velodrome are fully aware of Borriello’s situation and will enter into negotiations with Roma in the coming days.
However, the main catch is that Borriello’s wage demands could prove to be a big hurdle. OM cooled off their interest in the summer as Borriello was unwilling to take a pay cut.
However, with his career hitting a new low this campaign, Borriello might consider taking one (pay-cut) in order to revive his career in the second half of the campaign.
