Marco Botti concerned about Grey Mirage draw in the Betfred Silver Bowl at Haydock
The Marco Botti trained Grey Mirage will be competing in the Betfred Silver Bowl at Haydock on 26th May, 2012, where he will take on the 1 mile course and 16 other competitors.
Despite winning two starts consecutively and being in great form, the trainer is worried about his performance in this race.
These concerns are not completely groundless, as he will be racing against some of the best three-three-olds, all of who will be aiming to take the race in a grand fashion.
Along with that, the young runner will enter the race from stall 17, which is a cause for concern for the trainer.
The son of Oasis Dream, out of mare, Grey Way has competed in four starts since his career began on 5th October, 2011.
His two starts in 2011 were less impressive, but he has proved his worth with great performances in 2012.
The bay colt raced as a favourite in the 32Red.com Maiden Stakes at Kempton on 29th March, 2012, with a 10-11 chance and broke through the wire first, unthreatened by the other runners and landed 2 ¼ lengths before, Dartford.
Marco Botti commented to the press that:
"He's a progressive three-year-old who is going the right way. He won nicely at Sandown last time in spite of the heavy ground, because that was too soft for him."
He further added:
"I'm not very happy with the draw. He's in 17 out of 17, but there's nothing you can do. We think he can progress from his mark, but it will be tough from his draw."
The Michael Bell trained, Apostle, could be the one to beat since he is in an impeccable form, and the representative of the owner, Highclere Thoroughbred Racing, confirmed the fact:
"He's in great order and has really come on since his first run.”
With the victory in the Betfred Mobile Casino Handicap at Salisbury, the son of Dark Angel, out of mare Rosy Dudley, will be the one to watch out for. He does not have a major advantage in terms of his draw as well as he will break from stall 16.
