Marco Fu feels disappointed after losing to Peter Ebdon in 2012 Australian Goldfields Open
Proceedings of the penultimate stage of the 2012 Australian Goldfields Open snooker tournament finished at the Bendigo Stadium arena in Victoria featuring two potters who will face each other in the final encounter of the tournament.
In one of the semi-final clashes, former World Snooker Championship winner, England’s Peter Ebdon was able to surge into the final encounter of the event after beating Hong Kong’s Marco Fu by the score line of 6-2.
The Taipei potter, Fu, was outstanding at the baize from the beginning of the tournament and made an appearance in the initial stages which brought him to the penultimate stage. However, despite all his efforts, Fu failed to improvise accordingly in the
semi-final encounter against Ebdon and tumbled down in the clash.
Losing at a stage where the title is just a match away is definitely a very disappointing situation for any potter. Fu is also feeling disheartened on his defeat because he was not expecting this result at this stage of the event.
While speaking to World Snooker after his match, Fu said, “The result today was a bit disappointing, I think I played quite well. Looking at the stats my pot success was over 90 per cent and my long potting was at 80 per cent and my safety was over 80 per
cent as well.”
He added, “So I think that, apart from playing Joe Perry in the first round, this was probably the best I'd played this week. But sometimes when you're playing well it doesn't mean I can convert it into a victory.”
Fu did not have any chance against Ebdon because the English potter took control over the table from the very first frame and pushed his opponent down by 4-1 at the end of the session. The second session of the match went the same way and Ebdon was able
to claim the victory.
The English potter appreciated Fu’s game-play saying that he was playing and timing the ball well. That helped him adjust his game-play during the proceedings. However, Ebdon did not give him any opportunity to dominate the match and cruised into an easy
win over the Hong Kong potter.
