Marco Fu hails Peter Ebdon for his superb game in semis of 2012 Australian Goldfields Open
A tremendous game-play from the former World Snooker Championship winner and the 2012 China Open winner, Peter Ebdon of England, brought him into the final encounter of the 2012 Australian goldfields Open snooker tournament.
Ebdon was up against Hong Kong’s Marco Fu in the semi-final encounter of the event at the Bendigo Stadium arena in Victoria where he showed great determination to beat his opponent by the score line of 6-2.
Despite the fact that the critics were expecting this match to bring fireworks in the arena, Ebdon did show his class during the match proceedings and did not give any chance to Fu to take over him. Fu, who performed convincingly throughout the tournament,
was unable to improvise his game plan according to the changing scenario of the match and tumbled down.
Ebdon’s tremendous display of his snooker skills did not let Fu create any trouble for him during the game and took complete control of the match proceedings. Fu really appreciated the way Ebdon took care of the semi-final encounter. He wished him luck for
his next game which is against the winner of the 2012 Snooker Shootout event, Barry Hawkins.
In his post match interview with World Snooker, Fu said, “Peter played really well, he dominated in the safety department and his long-potting was really good. Sometimes I didn't do that much wrong to lose a frame because Peter earned his own chances by
making a good safety play or by potting a long ball to get into the balls and he scored quite well today so I think he deserved to win.”
Fu will now concentrate on the upcoming snooker events of the 2012-13 Snooker Season. His major aim will be to get his place in the Top 16 potters so that he can play the televised stages of all major ranking snooker events. Although Fu lost, he will be
happy with his overall performance as he managed to get to the semi-finals of the tournament.
It will be interesting to see how Ebdon manages to perform in the final as he will be looking to put in a tremendous effort and take top honours in the tournament.
