Marco Fu wins snooker gold in Asian Games
The final day of the 2010 Asian Games billiards and snooker competition resulted in another gold medal for Hong Kong.
Marco Fu beat China's Ding Junhui 4-2 in the men's snooker final at the Asian Games Town Gymnasium on Saturday.
The 32-year-old easily won the first frame 132-0, but Ding bounced back to take the second frame 84-1.
Ding seized the lead when he secured the third frame 60-15, but it proved to be the hometown bet's final taste of the lead.
Fu, the 2007 Snooker Grand Prix champion, tied the series with a 69-44 victory in the fourth frame. He won the fifth frame 67-56 before closing out the match with a 71-39 win in the sixth.
Thailand's Dechawat Poomjaeng and India's Aditya Sneha Mehta shared the bronze medals.
It was Fu's first individual gold medal in the Asian Games. He won a team gold in 1998 and 2002. Fu also won a silver in the doubles event at the Busan Asiad. He settled for the silver in the doubles and team events at the 2006 Doha Asiad.
Fu handed Hong Kong its second gold in the billiards and snooker competition.
The trio of Jaique Ip Wan In, Ng On Yee and So Man Yan won the Chinese Special Administrative Region's first gold in the competition when they ruled the women's 6-red snooker team event on Sunday. 
They beat China's Chen Xue, Bi Zhuqing and Chen Siming 3-1 in the final.
Hong Kong also brought home a bronze medal courtesy of Ng in the 6-red singles.
China topped the overall medal standings in the billiards and snooker event with four golds, two silver and two bronze medals.
The trio of Ding, Liang Wenbo and Tian Pengfei won the men's team snooker event while Chen Siming topped the women’s 6-red snooker singles.
Liu Shasha emerged as the women's 8-ball champion while Pan Xiaoting is the women's 9-ball queen.
Chinese Taipei ranked third overall with a 1-2-5 haul. Kuo po-cheng won the island-nation’s only gold when he ruled the men's 8-ball singles.
India also won a gold through Pankaj Advani in the men's English billiards singles. The South Asian nation also pocketed one silver and two bronze medals.
Japan and the Philippines are tied in fifth spot with a 1-1-0 production.
Tsuyoshi Suzuki beat compatriot Joji Kai 40-37 in the three-cushion carom final while Dennis Orcollo edged Warren Kiamco 9-7 in an all-Filipino final in the men’s 9-ball singles.
Other countries that won medals in the billiards and snooker competition were South Korea (0-1-1), Myanmar (0-1-1), Malaysia (0-1-0), Thailand (0-0-3), Vietnam (0-0-2), Indonesia (0-0-1), Pakistan (0-0-1) and Singapore (0-0-1).
