Marco Huck pressurised by WBC to take the final decision – Boxing News
Marco Huck is being pressurised by the WBC to come with a final decision regarding his selection between the heavyweight division and the jr. heavyweight division.
A statement by Francisco Valcarcel on Marco’s situation read, “Marco Huck’s representatives have informed me that he has yet to decide if he will stay a jr. heavyweight or choose the heavyweight division, but that his decision is imminent during the upcoming
week. As I will be in Germany for the Klitschko and Afolabi bouts, I will be meeting with Marco Huck’s representative, Chris Meyer from Sauerland Events regarding this matter.”
The statement further said that Ola Afolabi is currently fighting for the jr. heavyweight interim title on March 3, 2012 and that if Marco chooses jr. heavyweight division then he will face the winner of the bout between Afolabi vs. Brudov within 4 months.
Moreover, the statement said if Huck chooses to go for the heavyweight division then the winner of the bout between Afolabi and Brudov will become the WBO jr. heavyweight champion.
On the other hand, British boxing star Ola Afolabi is preparing to his best to pick up the interim WBO cruiserweight title by defeating Valery Brudov on March 3. In a recent interview, he iterated that his fight against Brudov will be a tough one and that
he should stop thinking about a bout with Huck and focus on this one for now. He added that he has seen Brudov fighting and that he knows he is a great fighter and he deserves respect.
Similarly, the 35-year-old California based world title challenger Brudov is also trying his level best to prove his mettle in this fight against Afolabi for future references.
As of now, no updates have come in from Huck’s camp. Whatever decision he takes will be an important one for the other two fighters who will be in the ring to either grab the WBO jr. heavyweight title or become the number one contender to fight against Marco.
It is expected of Marco to hand in his decision soon so that the WBC can decide on what to do next.
