Marco Huck receives death threat prior to heavyweight bout against Alexander Povetkin - Boxing news
Marco Huck, the young pugilist who is scheduled to take on Alexander Povetkin for the WBA World heavyweight title, recently received a life-threat via letter written by an anonymous individual to Sauerland Event, stating that the German should return to
Serbia and that the life of his family is in danger.
Sauerland Event, promoter of the brawl, has confirmed receiving the threat letter. According to their officials, the letter was received by representatives at Sauerland who were shocked to read the disturbing message addressed to the WBO cruiserweight champion
Marco Huck.
The letter stated, “Now you are hunted for along as it takes for us to get you. Also your family is in great danger. We are finally fed up with your boasting.”
The missive specifically mentioned Huck’s Berlin Villa as well which is raising concerns to the fact that there might be some reliability and conformity to the threat.
The source of the letter and additional information is not available. Sauerland and company have enhanced security for the event which is to be held on Saturday 25, 2012 event. The letter, which also targeted Marco’s trainer Ulli Wegner, demanded that the
27-year-old champion should go back to his hometown.
Marco is scheduled for a 12-round bout against the Russian heavyweight Alexander Povetkin. The fight will have Alexander’s WBA heavyweight title on the line and is scheduled to take place at the Porsche-Arena situated in Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, Germany.
Marco recently vowed to beat Alexander to become the WBA heavyweight champion in a pre-bout press conference that was held on Thursday. When Huck was asked to comment on the current distressing scenario, the young German brawler said, “I’m not afraid of
anything or anyone, but I’m worried about my family.”
Now, Marco has not laid his suspicion on any one furthermore no party or individual has accepted the responsibility for drafting the letter. The letter might also be a hoax but the event promoters have decided to not take it lightly since Marco is in his
home country and he has been residing in Berlin for a long time so there is no reason as to why someone had taken such a step.
