Marco Koch accomplishes Men’s 200m breaststroke gold: Day three - 2012 Sette Colli Meet, Italy
Marco Koch of Germany accomplished gold medal of the Men’s 200m breaststroke on final day of the 2012 Sette Colli Meet in Rome, Italy on Saturday, June 16.
The German swimmer remained dominant over his challengers from the start of the race and made his way to the finishing wall for gold medal. He faced strong competition from Ryo Tateishi of Japan but he managed to edge him out over the wall for gold medal.
Koch displayed his wonderful efforts in the four-lap discipline and ensured his place on top of the podium for gold medal with the timing of 2 minutes and 08.74 seconds.
He was followed by Tateishi, who stayed only 0.11 seconds behind and made his way to finishing end with the timing of 2 minutes and 08.85 seconds for silver medal.
Third spot of the discipline was secured by Flavio Bizzarri of Italy, who remained almost four seconds slower and hit the finishing blockade with an effort of 2 minutes and 12.76 seconds.
The bronze medallist was chased by Giacomo Perez Dortona of France, who stayed just 0.40 seconds slower from securing third position of the event and ended fourth by producing a time of 2 minutes and 13.16 seconds.
Fifth position of the event was obtained by Paolo Bossini of Italy, who stayed 0.33 seconds slower and tapped the finishing end with an effort of 2 minutes and 13.49 seconds.
Similarly, Bossini was chased by his teammate, Luca Pizzini, who remained half a body length behind and clocked an effort of 2 minutes and 14.12 seconds for sixth position
Pizzini remained exactly half a second ahead of his team-member, Edoardo Giorgetti, who proved his eligibility for seventh position of the event by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 14.62 seconds.
Last spot of the race was secured by Chris Christensen of Denmark, who completed his swim in eighth best place by reporting a time of 2 minutes and 15.77 seconds.
Koch was delighted after winning the title of 200m event and aroused expectations of his fans by saying that he is looking forward to achieve the same at forthcoming 2012 London Games.
