German breast-stroke specialist, Marco Koch overwhelmed the efforts of s***n Makovich in Men’s 200m breast-stroke final to win his second gold medal on first day of the 2011 Federation Internationale de Natation (FINA) Swimming World Cup series. The competition
is the first of seven legs of 2011 FINA/ARENA World Cup series, and the respective meet was held on Friday, October 7, in Dubai.
The 21-year-old Koch, who won the gold medal of 50m breast-stroke earlier at the session, went on a rampage to acquire his second gold medal of the meet. The German veteran seemed determined towards clinching his second gold medal of the championship while
his epic performance in the final round allowed him to pick the Men’s 200m breast-stroke title.
He qualified into the final as the top fastest swimmer and met the expectations of his fans by sustaining his top spot. He made his way to the top of victory stand by producing a phenomenal effort of 2 minutes and 04.97 seconds. With his scintillating efforts,
he remained 2.41 seconds behind the World Cup record of 2 minutes and 02.56 seconds, set by Neil Versfeld of South Africa in 2009.
Nevertheless, the gold medallist remained nearly nine seconds ahead of Makovich, who proved his eligibility for silver medal by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 13.22 seconds.

his position in the playoff.
