Marco Orsi and Sergey Fesikov settle for a tie in Men’s 50m freestyle: 2011 Italian Grand Prix
Italy’s Marco Orsi and Sergey Fesikov of Russia produced breathtaking turns in the pool against their challengers during the evening session of the 2011 Italian Grand Prix in Viareggio, Italy, on Saturday, November 19. More importantly, both Orsi and Fesikov
claimed gold medal in the Men’s 50m freestyle meets with an identical mark.
In a neck-to-neck battle, Marco Orsi of Fiamme Oro Roma and Sergey Fesikov of Russia got off to a thrilling start in the final meet and settled for first spot by beating the finishing divider in a matching blot of 21.80 seconds to secure the Men’s 50m freestyle
title. Earlier, Fesikov posted the fastest time of 21.09 seconds during the Russian Short Course Nationals, whereas, Orsi posted a time of 21.44 seconds at the Italian Short Course Nationals.
In the meantime, Federico Bocchia of Nouto Club earned third place honours by hitting the finishing blockade in a time of 22.26 seconds. In addition, Luca Dotto of GS Forestale gave his best attempt and produced attention grabbing turns against his challengers
in the respective race by banging the finishing blockade in a spot of 22.34 seconds to secure fourth position.
Francesco Bellacci smacked Alessandro Calvi by hitting the finishing divider in a winning blot of 22.91 seconds to claim fifth position in the respective race, while Calvi settled at sixth spot by clicking the finishing blockade in a mark of 23.10 seconds,
respectively.
Last, but not the least, the seventh place went to Nicola Febbraro after he touched the finishing wall and ended his swim in a time of 23.15 seconds. Moreover, Filippo Beltrame settled at eighth spot in a time of 23.49 seconds.
The awe-inspiring swim of Marco Orsi paid off as he went on to receive the gold medal from the jury in the respective race after the session’s completion. The 2011 Italian Grand Prix is an imperative meet for young guns of Italy, as it is assisting all athletes
to improve their swimming techniques for their advanced meets.
