Marco Pinotti ready to get back into the action after the Giro Crash – Cycling News
Marco Pinotti who fractured his hip during the stage 19 of Giro d’ Italia is still recovering from the crash. Craig Lewis was also involved in the crash as both the riders hit a traffic sign with 35 kilometres from the finish line.
With more than a month spent in bed under medication he finally rode his bike a few days back as he stated, “When you’ve been off the bike for a month, it takes two months to get fit again. I was off the bike for two and a half months and so I need five
months to be competitive again.”
During the time spent in the hospital Pinotti kept himself busy by watching Tour de France as he briefed that it was an amazing Tour but he enjoyed the sprint stages the most.
Pinotti is looking forward to race in Giro d’ Italia 2012 but the biggest issue he is facing right now is the news of his current team HTC Highroad finishing their associations from professional cycling.
The 35-year-old is keen that he will hit his form soon and is already back on his bike as he stated that he has ridden his bike quite a few times and mostly alone and that he prefers training alone at the moment because his muscles are not yet used to the
work out. He further added that his legs are thinner than before and he needs to get back in shape soon which is a long process but it is something that has to be done.
Like everyone else, Pinotti too was shocked on hearing the news about HTC-Highroad but also disclosed that he has received an offer from another team and will announce the name only after he finalised the decision as he said, “It’s incredible that the team
with the most victories in the last four years and the highest return on its sponsor’s investment can’t find a new backer.”
Team Sky and Garmin are likely to sign up the Italian cyclist for the 2012 season as they have shown interest in the cyclist two years ago.
