The Borussia Monchengladbach striker has denied reports accusing him of rejecting Bayern Munich’s offer due to playing guarantees.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marco-Reus-c23733 revealed earlier this month that he will be joining reigning German champions Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season. However, recent reports claim that the player had refused a move to Bayern Munich, who were also
in pursuit of the player, as he was not promised a place in the starting line-up.
Reus played down such rumours, claiming that he did not demand playing guarantees from Bayern Munich before deciding to sign for Borussia Dortmund during the ongoing winter transfer window. He added that he always had affection
for Dortmund having spent his youth days at the Westfalenstadion which is the main reason to join Jurgen Klopp’s team.
The German international insisted that each player has to perform in order to cement his place in the starting XI, and his decision was not influenced by any sort of guarantees either from Dortmund or Bayern. He has, therefore,
rubbished any such claims from the reporters, and is focussing on his current role at Borussia-Park with the Foals.
While talking to Sky Sports News, the 22-year-old further mentioned:
"Various sources have reported that I had demanded a starting berth, but that is complete non-sense. That would simply be impossible. Everybody has to fight for his place.”
On the other hand, Reus stated that he is not assured of a place in Dortmund’s starting XI, and will work hard in order to impress Jurgen Klopp. He insisted that his main objective this season would be to help his current side
clinch a European spot at the end of this season.
"I'll have to give 100 per cent at Borussia Dortmund as well in order to make it into the team. These kinds of reports are obviously annoying as they are not true, but this is all in the past now. I have to focus on my football
again," Reus concluded.
The attacker is currently in outstanding form with the Foals and recently scored his 11th goal of the campaign in his team’s 3-1 win over Bayern Munich. Gladbach emerged victorious in the second-half’s opener against
the Reds on Friday, January 20, courtesy a strike from Reus and a brace from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Patrick-c29254 Hermann.
As a result, the Foals have climbed up the table to the second spot, one point adrift of Jupp Heynckes’ Bavarian giants.
