The Borussia Monchengladbach striker is delighted with his team’s emphatic win over the Bundesliga giants in the second-half opener.
The Foals have gone up to the second spot on the table with a clinical 3-1 win over Bayern Munich on Friday, January 20, at the Borussia-Park. The second phase of this season’s Bundesliga resumed with the meeting between the two
sides which was won comprehensively by the hosts.
Reus broke the deadlock as early in the 11th minute before Hermann made it 2-0, four minutes before the end of the first period. The latter collected a brace on the 71st minute to make the score 3-0. Bayern

The Borussia Dortmund bound attacker praised the efforts of his entire team, and also credited his manager, Lucien Favre, for Friday’s emphatic display. He added that the players knew the importance of hitting Bayern on the counter
attack which eventually led to the downfall of the Bavarian giants.
While talking during the post-match press conference, the 22-year-old further insisted:
"Today was a tough fight for us, we knew we had to hit them on the counter, which we did two or three times, the coach prepared us well.”
On the other hand, Gladbach manager also reserved praise for his entire unit for standing tall against a well equipped Bayern side. He stated that his players made life difficult for Bayern, and hailed them for completing a double
over the German giants this season. The Foals also defeated Jupp Heynckes’ men in the season’s opening game last year.
"We have played very well tactically and were very compact, it was difficult for Bayern to find a gap. We defended very well, without giving away too many fouls. My team has done very well, it was important to get three points
against Bayern again," Favre concluded.
As a result, Gladbach find themselves on the second spot, two points clear of Borussia Dortmund and Schalke, and one adrift of Bayern Munich. The Foals will next take on Stuttgart on Sunday, January 29.
