The player’s agent has confirmed that the Borussia Monchengladbach striker did not ask the Reds for playing guarantees before securing his future at Borussia Dortmund.
Reus’ agent, Dirk Hebel, has declined claims that the striker asked for playing guarantees from the Munich giants before deciding his move to the reigning German champions. He accepted that Reus’ had negotiations with the Bavarian
giants, but playing guarantees was never the topic of discussion between the two parties.
According to reports, the German international demanded a regular place in the starting line-up before agreeing terms with Borussia Dortmund. There were further claims that the former Rot Weiss Ahlen star is aware of the stiff
competition from the likes of Franck Ribery, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Toni-Kroos-c35425 which prompted him to tie knots with Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Hebel stated that his client was always inclined towards joining the Westfalenstadion outfit, and has definitely made the perfect decision. He stated that the striker had always dreamt of a move to Signal Iduna Park and is looking
forward to start his stint with the current German champions this summer.
While talking to sport1, the agent further mentioned:
"Such a guarantee was never in the contract talks."
Reus has been in sublime form this season and has been a vital part of the club’s success in the ongoing campaign. As a result, the Foals find themselves fourth on the league standings behind Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and
Schalke.
The striker’s current form prompted interest from a host of European outfits including Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. Both the clubs agreed to pay the 17.5 million Euros buy-out clause, but Reus decided to land at the Westfalenstadion
rather than the Allianz-Arena.
Reus has once again decided to ply his trade at Dortmund after leaving their youth ranks in 2006. The player will spend the remaining part of this season with Lucien Favre’s side before starting his career with the Borussians in
July.
Reus has so far scored 10 league goals this season from 14 appearances, and will face Bayern Munich on Friday, January 20, after the winter break.
