Marco Reus ecstatic with a win but unhappy with his own performance- Bundesliga news
Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marco-Reus-c23733, has expressed pleasure at his side’s surprising 1-0 win over the title contenders Bayern Munich, away from home. The player at the same time seemed unhappy with his own performance and reckoned that he could
have done a lot better in front of the goal.
Reus congratulated his teammates on putting up a remarkable show and urged his side to carry on with the same momentum in the club’s next game against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfB-Stuttgart-c40879.
The 22-year-old stated that his side went into the game as underdogs and nobody even gave them a chance of beating Bayern at the Allianz Arena. The midfielder also hailed the efforts of his teammate http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Igor-de-Camargo-c16693 whose 62ndminute header broke
the deadlock which proved to be the difference at the end of the 90 minutes. The youngster reckoned that he could have given an improved performance that day and vowed to do a lot better in the club’s next game.
In an interview to the club’s official website, the player enthused, “Of course I'm pleased that we won. However, I was running almost non-stop and was a little tired. Naturally I feel like I could've contributed more. I'm not over the moon about my own
performance, but at the end of the day the team's performance is more important.”
Reus told that the defence was on its toes from the very first minute and applauded the back four for not allowing the Bavarians to register their first goal of the campaign. He still reckoned that work needs to be done in order to further strengthen the
defence but was delighted to have passed the first stern test.
He concluded by saying, “The most important thing was that we believed in ourselves. We're aware that Bayern have more individually talented players and that's why we kept things tight. Bayern obviously had their chances, but we held our own against them,
narrowed the playing field before pouncing on the counter attack.”
The midfielder has 65 league appearances for the Foals so far, netting 18 goals during the process. He will next be seen in action on Saturday, August 13.
