The Borussia Monchengladbach striker has been identified as a potential transfer target by Spanish club Real Madrid.
After drawing firm interest from Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, Marco Reus has now attracted interest from Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid.
Los Blancos have reportedly revealed their desire to sign the striker at the end of this season, and are willing to pay his buyout clause of 17.5 million Euros.
Reus’ contract at Borussia Park is set to expire in 2013, and the suitors might try their luck with a January bid for the attacker.
Madrid manager, Jose Mourinho, rates the German players highly, and already has Sami Khedira, Mesut Ozil, Hamit Altintop and Nuri Sahin in his squad.
However, Reus is believed to be concerned with lack of first-team opportunities he would get at Santiago Bernabeu. He fears that it would be extremely difficult to dislodge big names such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and
Gonzalo Higuain from the team-sheet.
Bayern Munich President, Uli Hoeness, has also advised the German international to stay at Gladbach for at least one more year before moving to a bigger club.
Several clubs including Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea are also believed to be tracking Reus.
The 22-year-old, who started his fledgling career at the Signal Iduna Park before moving to Rot Weiss, has had an impressive campaign with the Foals so far, and he has already revealed his intentions of honouring his contract with
the club. He has previously stated his desire to join Borussia Dortmund at some point in his career.
Reus’ form has turned last year's relegation contenders to become surprise title contenders. Gladbach are currently placed 4th in the league table, trailing Bayern Munich by just two points.
The striker has scored 10 league goals from 14 games this season so far.
Monchengladbach will next take on Bayern Munich on Friday, January 20, when the action resumes after the winter break.
