The Borussia Monchengladbach striker is aiming for all three points against Die Roten and rates his team favourites against the hosts.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marco-Reus-c23733 issued a warning to Stuttgart ahead of his team’s clash on Sunday, January 29, at the Mercedes-Benz-Arena. The striker reckons that the home side will be under pressure going into the game after losing their clash against
Schalke last week.
On the other hand, Reus rated his team as favourites against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bruno-c8098 Labbadia’s side following their inspiring victory over Bayern Munich last weekend, January 20, at the Borussia Park. The striker was one of the scorers in his team’s
3-1 win, taking his season’s tally to 11 league goals from 15 appearances.
The last time these two teams met at the same venue was during the 2010/11 season when the hosts turned out to be emphatic 7-0 winners. However, Reus stated that the Foals are in better shape compared to the last term when Gladbach
were fighting to stay in the Bundesliga.
While talking to the official Bundesliga website, the Borussia-Dortmund bound attacker further added:
“As far as I'm concerned that match is irrelevant because we were playing under entirely different circumstances. This time we're heading there with plenty of confidence because we won our first game of the New Year and have already
amassed 36 points. Still, we're also well aware that we're going to have to work even harder than did against Bayern.”
When asked about Stuttgart’s fighting abilities, Reus opined that Die Roten will be eager to register their first win of the New Year, and therefore might come out hard in front of their home fans. He stressed on the importance
of a strong defensive performance as Stuttgart can be lethal at home.
“I think so. Stuttgart are at home and lost their first game back, so they won't want to lose touch with the leading pack. VfB are under a lot more pressure than we are,” Reus concluded.
Monchengladbach are currently fourth on the league standings with 36 points from 18 games, while Stuttgart are 10th with 22 points. The visitors will be looking to maintain their winning run in order to stay on the heels
of the top three teams.
