Marco Simoncelli hopeful of getting an offer from Honda during Brno event – MotoGP news
San Carlo Honda Gresini rider Marco Simoncelli wants an offer from Honda Racing Corporation to continue with Honda for the 2012 MotoGP season.
The Italian is looking forward to continue his career with Honda and expects that HRC should propose a deal by Brno event due after the short summer break. Yet he has no intentions to leave Honda but the truth is that he is not yet been offered any renewal
of the deal. His present contract will complete by the end of 2011.
Management consultant for Marco Simoncelli, Carlo Pernat said, “Now we are waiting for the offer from Honda. We asked for an offer in Brno. For sure Ducati is not staying calm and they are interested in Marco. Marco wants to stay with Honda, but if Ducati
can arrive with an offer, he would have to think about it. The first choice is Honda and I'm sure that he will stay with them.”
The Italian got conscious after the news surfaced that Honda are reducing the number of bikes from MotoGP grid which will leave only three bikes out of six RCVs. The fact is that Honda is still in the process to close the budget amount for the next season
which has caused a delay on offer for Simoncelli.
The rumours have been that the Ducati team is preparing to approach Marco Simoncelli where he will ride the third factory Ducati.
Ducati Team boss Alessandro Cicognani denied the rumours that Simoncelli is being contacted for the third Desmosedici seat along present riders Valentino Rossi and Nicky Hayden.
Cicognani said, “No, not at all. We have our riders signed for next year with Nicky and Valentino and we will stick to this.”
The team boss has revealed that Ducati has no intentions to contact Simoncelli. The Italian manufacturer has a continuing contract with both present riders Rossi and Hayden to ride throughout the 2012 season.
However, the rumour seems that Ducati is in mood to testify Simoncelli’s faithfulness with HRC, so it is possible that Ducati will approach the Italian.
