Marco Simoncelli leading the final-third day of test at Sepang – MotoGP news
Italian rider Marco Simoncelli of the San Carlo Honda Gresini team is leading the time chart marking the fastest lap on final-third day of first test at Sepang.
As on the second day of test he managed to climb on fifth position at time chart. Simoncelli hit top rank by making is fastest lap of day with 2m 0.757s.
Alvaro Bautista of the Rizla Suzuki team got sick unpleasantly. Although he returned back from his hotel room, as he could not sleep. Rizla Suzuki ran their practice with test rider Nobu Aoki. They hung up to do a lot of practice as the first test finishes
today. Bautista will resume testing on second MotoGP test session Feb 22-24 at Sepang.
“Alvaro did an out-lap this morning and threw up in his helmet. He came in, then threw up again in the garage, I don’t know if it was heatstroke - he did 60 odd laps yesterday - or just an illness. He’s okay. He went back to the hotel, but must have been
quite poorly as he couldn’t sleep,” Paul Denning, team manager spoke for his team.
On final day world champion Jorge Lorenzo of the Yamaha Factory Racing hit the second spot on time chart, as yesterday he walked away with seventh place. Ben Spies dropped a place at time chart covering the fourth place on the closing day.
Yesterday’s time chart topper Dani Pedrosa Repsol Honda slipped to sixth position, while his teammate stepped up his Repsol Honda RC212V to third position as fourth on second day of test. Honda still covers four ranks out of top five.
‘The Doctor,’ Valentino Rossi of Ducati Marlboro Team came in the top ten positions, revealing the steady strategy of his team Ducati to hit the tops. Meanwhile his teammate, Nicky Hayden was on the eighth slot.
The penultimate three-day test will be on February 22-24, 2011 at the same venue. It will be followed by the last pre-season test at Losail, Qatar.
