Marco Simoncelli to keep his pit crew for 2012 season with San Carlo Honda Gresini – MotoGP news
San Carlo Honda Gresini rider Marco Simoncelli renewed his contract with HRC on the condition that he will keep his pit crew for the 2012 MotoGP season.
Super Sic was offered to extend his contract for the 2012 1000cc MotoGP season. The main clause was to leave his personal pit crew and shift to HRC’s technical assistance.
Marco Simoncelli told Eurosport, “We had some discussions after the Brno race because they proposed to change my team but I told them I didn’t agree. I spoke with them afterwards and we came to an agreement that I would keep my team and my crew for next
year.”
The Italian rider strongly insisted that he would not abandon his crew which has travelled with him through many steps. He feels that his crew is very important to him and his success story.
However, the negotiations were carried out since the Brno event. HRC put forward some options due its reduction in budget for the 2012 season’s MotoGP project.
In his opinion, Simoncelli does not like to change things frequently. During his racing career, he has found some good people which stand by him in every situation, he said.
In the 2010 MotoGP season, Simoncelli entered as a rookie his pit crew stepped up alongside him from the 250cc category. He and his crew have improved a lot throughout the ongoing 2011 season. Simoncelli anticipates he his crew is fully prepared to score
wins next season.
Super Sic further said, “There will be a lot of pressure next year. But there is pressure every year because I am a rider and I want to get the best results I can. I am the first person to get angry at myself because I put a lot of pressure on myself to
do better.”
Let’s see what impact will he and his crew have in the 2012 MotoGP season.
