Comparisons between the 19-year-old and Andrea Pirlo are inevitable, given his role in the midfield and his style of play. And the former Pescara player is honoured to be compared with such an amazing player.
While talking to ligue1.com, Marco Verratti stated that Andrea Pirlo in one of the best players in the world, who has won everything in his career, and to be compared with him is a great honour.
"Andrea Pirlo has won everything in his career, he is a tremendous player.”
The youngster added that he grew up watching the former Milan player, and he dreamt of having a career like his.
The Italian has been impressive for the Parisiens this season, and has been tipped for a bright future with Paris Saint-Germain.
After signing for the cash-laden capital club in summer, Verratti feels that he has a chance to fulfill his dreams, and hopes to become as good as Andrea Pirlo.
“He is so much experienced, so I guess every player dreams of having a career like Pirlo's. I'm going to try to emulate him, I know it won't be easy but I'm going to give everything I've got," the former Pescara player told reporters.
Praising his coach, Carlo Ancelotti, Verratti said that the coach is really supportive of him, and he is lucky to be playing under tutelage of such an experienced coach.
“The coach talks to me a lot; he wants me to accelerate the play as much as possible. He wants us to play at speed so he asks me to release the ball quicker.”
The 19-year-old added that playing alongside so many great players will help him become a better player, and is looking forward to learn from them as much as possible.
“I like the fact he talks to me because his advice will help me to improve my game."
Paris Saint-Germain, who are currently third in the league, host FC Sochaux at Parc des Princes this Saturday, in their next game of the 2012/2013 Ligue 1 campaign.
