I hope Marco can show some of past magic again, rather then be an also - ran.

  2. Really not sure that's the best move for him, I'm not knocking his undoubted skill but what bike has he developed (didn't really do alot on the Yam, satellite Honda development lead by others), the Kwak is not a race winner and in Hopper & Melandri have they got the people to turn it into one.

Kawasaki need help in both MotoGP and WSB and look like they are going the wrong way with riders in both series.

Have just read that Kawasaki want to keep hold of Ant West either on a 3rd MotoGP bike or in WSB on the PSG 1 ZX10 as they feel that have invested alot to improve his riding in the last 18 month's

  3. Average rider for an average team, any of the top 8 250 riders, chaz Davies, Spies ( if Suzuki don't keep him on board) or even Tom Sykes would sureley be more of an inspiring move.

Melandris top flight career is in the past I would feel.

Don't get me wrong, Marco is good if not great but Kawasaki needs a rider that will push 100%, 100% of the time.

2, 4Th places and 10Th in the riders standings, would be my guess.

Westie shoud look for a decent British superbike role, its revitalised James Ellision.

  4. Yes hopefully he can deliver if Kawasaki give him a good package

Cheers for the good comment Wiggysan.

Wiggysan do u think Marco will be on form on the kwaka?

Would you take two minutes to watch this epic battle between Marco and Loris

  5. Hi Wiggysan

I like Marco, and I'm glad he's got a ride for next season. But I think he's taking a real risk. The Gresini would have been a better option (which apparently he had). He's a proven race winner for that team. I know he slagged off Honda, so maybe it's political.

I don't think Kawasaki is a good move. Compared to last year, the bikes a Dog. If he doesn't succeed this time, 2009 will be his last season in the top flight. Having said that, Brno saw some big improvements to the Kwacker, so maybe it's a shrewd (or lucky) move for Marco.

As for Ant West............He's still a talented rider, and I'm sure there'll be a seat for him somewhere in wsbk or wss. That in itself could be a shrewd move for Westy. I know you'll probably disagree, but the way things are going with the shrinking grids and runaway races of motogp, and the close racing and new manufacturers getting into wsbk, the production series will become the "one to watch" as far as the viewing public are concerned.

Motogp will always be the choice for the racing purist spectator, but wsbk will become the popular choice...............but that's an answer for another question!
