Marcos Maidana wants Amir Khan to be his advisor – Boxing news
The current World Boxing Association’s Super Lightweight champion, Marcos ‘El Chino’ Maidana, wants Amir Khan to be his advisor.
The current unified World Boxing Association Super and International Boxing Federation Light Welterweight Champion, Khan, recently admitted that he does not want to give Maidana a rematch.
The Bolton’s finest, who is widely known as King Khan, said his fight with the 28-year-old Argentinean could be possible, if Maidana first takes on Timothy Bradley first.
“A lot of you want to see the Maidana rematch (and) yes it was a cracking fight. I enjoyed watching it too. It could happen. Let’s see him fight Bradley,” Khan said.
Maidana, who desperately wants a rematch with Khan, is not happy at all as he has finally understood Khan does not want to fight him anymore. Therefore, Maidana has offered Khan a new job of being his advisor.
“Well, finally Khan has admitted that he doesn’t wanna see me around him inside the ring so as he’s been lately suggesting that I should face Jessie Vargas, Erik Morales and now Tim Bradley we thought that we could end the bad blood and offered him to be
my new advisor,” Maidana said.
Maidana’s current advisor Sebastian Contursi meanwhile also supported Maidana.
“Since Khan didn’t accept to fight Maidana again now we hope that Amir accepts this new challenge,” Contursi said.
Maidana met Khan back in December 2010 at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas for the WBA world lightweight title. Though Khan successfully defended his title for the third time and secured a unanimous decision over Maidana, the Brit took a terrible
beating in the 10th round which almost cost him the fight. The fight was also awarded the Boxing Writers Association of America Award for the Fight of the Year.
Therefore, a rematch between Khan and Maidana is certainly going to be another classic bout. Let’s see if Khan, who holds a record of winning 26 of his 27 professional fights, with 18 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, offers Maidana a rematch.
