Marcus Bak captures Men’s 200m back-stroke crown in Thisted: 2011 Danish Short Course Nationals
Marcus Bak rose to the expectations of his fans during the final evening session of the 2011 Danish Short Course Nationals, in Thisted, Denmark, on Sunday, November 27. Bak went on to win Men’s 200m back-stroke title.
The final encounter between Marcus Bak and his challengers got a huge hype before the start up. The top three athletes including Bak, Chris Christensen and Lasse Vestergaard were the hot favourites to claim the contest, but it was Bak who showed consistency
against his rivals in the final heat by thumping the finishing divider in a striking blot of 1 minute and 57.16 seconds to win the Men’s 200m back-stroke title.
In the meantime, Chris Christensen did not drop the hopes of his followers in the vital match and produced attention grabbing turns against his opponents throughout the race. Christensen went on to win silver medal in the respective race by banging the finishing
divider in a triumphant mark of 1 minute and 58.38 seconds. The bronze title went to Lasse Vestergaard after she touched the finishing blockade in 2 minutes and 02.67 seconds.
Emil K. Mortensen continued to carry on with his impressive form and claimed fourth place honours in the respective race by striking the finishing barricade in a time of 2 minutes and 04.35 seconds. In addition, Kasper Schultz earned fifth spot in the final
encounter against his rivals by claiming the finishing divider in a mark of 2 minutes and 05.22 seconds. Last, but not the least, Kasper Fiil Frandsen got sixth position after she touched the finishing wall and ended her swim in the respective meet in a time
of 2 minutes and 05.87 seconds.
The compelling swims of the athletes involving Marcus Bak, Chris Christenssen and Lasse Vestergaard mesmerised the arena, while the toppers were given compliments in the form of gold, silver and bronze medals after the session’s completion.
The 2011 Danish Short Course Nationals is offering an exciting opportunity to all young guns of Denmark to enhance their swimming techniques for their upcoming meets.
