Marcus Camby?

Why did Denver trade him for nothing? So many teams need a good centre for the next 1-2 years? Miami, Golden State, Atlanta, Chicago just to name a few. They could have got so much more.

E.G. Denver could have got hinrich from Bulls, or some youngsters from atlanta.

did they do the right thing?

Yes it's true that many teams could have offered better deals, BUT! none could offer what the clippers were offering. Cap relief the clippers swallowed camby's massive contract and the nuggets get more cap space so they can go after other free agents.

george carl isnt focousing on the 09 season hes focousing on the 2010 season cus there gonna have a really good draft pick in the next draft and there gonna try to get josh smith cus they have more cap room now

they wanted the cap space. if they had traded for another player(s) they would've taken on the salaries of the incoming players. they want room to go after free agents in the upcoming free agency. plus the room they've cleared gives them more flexibility to go after multiple free agents.

to answer the other question: i don't think its a good move (short term... may miss playoffs), but obviously denver decided to rebuild and they started with camby (long term... more money... maybe a higher draft pick).

the trade works for the nuggets.  The gm is obviously in a rebuilding frame of mind, and trading away camby for a trade exception (and a choice to exchange draft picks) is a decent away going about it.  the trade exception they gained can be used to get other expiring contracts, which all boils down to the summer of 2010, the summer all rebuilding teams are clearing cap-space for.

true the nuggets could have brought in a decent player or two, and made a push for a championship, but think about it, are they REALLY going to challenge the spurs/suns/lakers/hornets in the west? (let alone boston in the east)

trading away camby is probably just the first step.  he may or may not make more moves to clear more cap room for 2010 (my bet is trading A.I for younger players that would work around melo - or d-wade/lebron if they go to denver in 2010)

because the GM is  stupid for trading Marcus camby & edwardo Najara and its for nothing how tupid can he be talking about rebuilding the team yeah right they needed those 2 players if they want to try to go deep in the playoffs next season but now thats definitley not happening and i wouldn't blame A.I. if he demands a trade shlt i know i would.
