Marcus Campbell feels confident to play Fergal O’Brien in Round 2 of 2012 Wuxi Classic
Scotland’s Marcus Campbell was outstanding against Stephen Lee in Round 1 of 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker event and ousted him easily to set up Fergal O’Brien clash in the second round. Campbell believes O’Brien is a strong contender and will prove a worthy
opponent in the second match. However, he also said that he is feeling very confident especially after beating Lee in the first round.
In his post match interview with World Snooker, Campbell said, “Fergal and I have had a few battles over the years, we're a couple of old-school players. You know the way Fergal plays, I'm looking forward to it. I'm hitting the ball alright now, I think.
I'll probably be a lot better in the next match now that I have a bit of confidence after beating Stephen.”
Playing conditions at the Wuxi Sports Center arena in Wuxi, China are a bit humid which is quite troubling for the potters. The likes of World Number one and the defending Champion Mark Selby and the former two-time World Snooker Championship winner, Wales’
Mark Williams are using specialised gloves to play on the Wuxi arena baize.
However, despite the problematic situation in the arena, the potters are managing it very well with their classy snooker work and sharp cue action. The first round match between the Scotsman Marcus Campbell and the winner of the 2011-12 Players Tour Championship
(PTC) Grand Finals, Stephen Lee was a superb example of controlled game-play.
The match up was clinched by the Scotsman though by the score line of 5-1 but the snooker lovers present at the arena did witness some sensible play at the venue. Campbell of Scotland was impressive on the table from the very beginning of the match showing
his true class against the Englishman who had no chance to counter Campbell’s stunning game.
The Campbell-O’Brien clash of the second round of 2012 Wuxi Classic will be something that the viewers have been waiting. Both cuemen are in full swing of challenging any opponent in the competition. Campbell must prepare for a tremendous and tough match
against the Irishman.
