Marcus Campbell hopeful for positive run ahead: 2012 Wuxi Classic – Snooker Update
Despite playing sensibly and brilliantly in the initial stages of the 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker tournament, the Scottish potter, Marcus Campbell tumbled down in the penultimate stage of the event.
Campbell performed well early in the first two rounds and made his way into the semi-final encounter where he was up against England’s Ricky Walden who trashed him quite easily in the penultimate match.
Reaching the semi-finals was indeed a superb achievement for the Scotsman as he worked really hard in the past two seasons to get into the list of leading potters. He started the new snooker season with the hopes to fulfil his target and proved his class
with his scintillating performance.
He hit the 2012 Wuxi Classic line-up with great determination and trashed a couple of big names in his run. He hoped for a marvellous finish of the tournament bit his hopes were all dashed by Bingham’s good form which made him look like an easy opponent
for him. Campbell was quite disappointed with his performance because he was full of hope that he can actually make a difference this time but he failed to act upon his own beliefs.
During his post match interview with World Snooker, Campbell said, “I actually feel like I can win a tournament now within myself and I do believe it. It is a big learning curve and it's a big jump in class as well to win a ranking event. If you'd said at
the start of the week that I'd get to the semi-finals, I'm disappointed now, but I would've taken it.”
He added, “It's just nice to come to a ranking event and actually win a few matches because last year I was getting sick of playing the top players and I was playing really well and I was losing by the odd frame, it's demoralising sometimes.”
However, on the other hand, he seems satisfied with his performance and believes he can make it up to the mark in the next tournament. He said that he did manage to make it into the final stages of the tournament but despite crashing out of the event, he
is comfortable and has expressed his thoughts saying that he will continue trying hard to get to his goal.
