Marcus Campbell meets Matthew Stevens in quarter-final of partycasino.com PTC Grand Final
Marcus Campbell will face Matthew Stevens in the quarter-final of PartyCasino.com Players Tour Championship (PTC) 2010-11 Grand Final today, at the Helix Theatre, in Dublin. The Scotsman
crashed Stuart Bingham of England 4-3 in his last-16 match.
Englishman, Stuart Bingham was supposed to play against Stephen Maguire in last-24 but he received a walkover as Maguire pulled out of the tournament due to the birth of his third child.
Bingham grabbed the first frame 42-82 after he smashed in pretty decent breaks of 38 and 28 to gain a 1-0 quick lead before Campbell capitalised back, firing two impressive breaks of 34
and 38 to catch the frame 72-0 and balance the score 1-1. Before the Euro PTC event 3 winner, Campbell could add more to his account, the Binginator struck again in the third frame pocketing a beautiful 33 and clinched the frame 27-64.
The 38-year-old Campbell equalised the game 2-2 after he sprang back in the next frame to clinch it 66-29. The 1996 IBSF World Amateur champion, Bingham moved within a one frame lead again
as he outplayed the Scottish 2-72 in the fifth frame and led 2-3. No major breaks were potted in first five frames but World Number 32, Marcus Campbell gave in a fine half century break of 58 in the sixth frame as he clinched it 79-44, to level the game 3-3.
Scotsman, Campbell, also known as the Dumbarton Destroyer, cued a sensational century break of 126 to outclass Bingham 126-0 in the decider frame and grabbed the victory 4-3 as well, along
with the quarterfinal spot against Matthew Stevens. The frame scores of the match were 42-82, 72-0, 27-64, 66-29, 2-72, 79-44 and 126-0.
The quarter-final starts today at the Helix Theatre, Dublin.
