Marcus Hahnemann worried by Wolves' poor form
Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann has spoken of his frustration at the team’s poor form, pointing to the succession of early goals the side
seems to concede in matches this season. The club currently sits 19th in the Premier League with five points off safety, even at this early stage in the season.
Hahnemann told reporters confidence is quickly draining away from the team. "It feels terrible to keep conceding so early on. A lot of it is down to bad luck.
But it took too long to get going. It's diabolical the way things are going. You try not to let those early blows affect you but ultimately they do. The plan was to stay nice and solid for the first 10 minutes, but bang, you are a goal behind, and when that
happens regularly it does affect your confidence a bit,” the American stated.
Blackpool forward Luke Varney’s stunning third minute strike against Mick McCarthy’s men was a huge blow on Saturday – one which they never really recovered from.
Wolves dominated much of the game at Bloomfield Road, but were on the unfortunate end of Varney’s wonder-goal, before Hahnemann himself made a sloppy error, gifting the Tangerines a two-goal
advantage. It was another case of Wolves playing well, but failing to come away with any points – something that has blighted their campaign so far.
For a side that struggles to find the net on a regular basis, they certainly need to plug the holes at the back if they are to lift themselves out of the relegation
zone. Hahnemann, like some of his team-mates, have to stop being so generous in gift-wrapping goals for their opponents, otherwise it’s going to be a long, hard, and ultimately disappointing season for the Midlands outfit.
