Marcus North still optimistic about international return for Australia – Cricket News Update
Australia’s discarded middle-order batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 earlier this month.
North, along with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Simon-Mathew-Katich-c90404 has been ignored by Cricket Australia and majority of the cricket analysts feel that this is the end of their career.
The left hander has been a permanent member of Australian Test team since the last couple of years but a slump of form during the Ashes 2010-11 led to his omission from the team and since then he has been side-lined.
The Western Australian batsman understands that it is not going to be easy for him to make an international return but North is motivated to work hard and score some http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adam-Griffith-c919 runs in domestic cricket to strengthen his case.
North said, “Obviously with the contract list coming out and me being omitted from that, doesn’t suggest I’m in their plans for the immediate future. But there’s been a lot of players who have represented Australia by not being in the 25.”
The 31-year-old left hander made his Test debut in February 2009 against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 and has played 21 matches since. He is averaging 35.48 runs per innings and has notched up five hundreds at the highest stage of the game. On top of that, North is more
than handy with his gentle off-spinners but still he has been generally regarded as a Test specialist.
North expressed that playing for Australia has been an honour for him but feels that he could have done better in order to cement his place in the Aussie team and to play more international cricket.
“There’s been plenty of times you get asked the question ‘how good is it to represent your country’ and I say it’s fantastic, but when you get to the stage like I did where you miss out on a spot in the third Test, you reassess and think about what you’ve
done in your career,” he added.
Although, the left hander is quite hopeful of returning to international cricket, it is going to be extremely difficult for him, considering the fact that Aussie selectors are looking for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Matthew-Hendrik-Wessels-c75170 now.
