Marcus Sorg: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/SC-Freiburg-c40462 rejected Newcastle United’s offer for Papiss Demba Cisse
SC Freiburg manager has revealed that the club rejected a late bid for their inspirational striker, Papiss Demba Cisse, from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Senegal-c3001 international in order to strengthen
their weak forward line, according to reports.
The Magpies sold ace striker Andy Carroll during last season’s January transfer window and are looking for the right person to fill in the boots of the towering scorer since then. The club made a late bid for Cisse during the recently concluded summer transfer
window, which was rejected by the Freiburg officials.
Sorg reckons that Cisse has a future in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 and apparently has no problems at the club. He mentioned that the striker deserves to win silverware on a consistent basis and has been unfortunate so far. Sorg confirmed that the Senegalese will most probably
part ways with the club at the end of this year’s campaign.
While talking to the reporters, the sporting director added, "For starters, Newcastle United's offer was not high enough in our opinion and secondly, it was impossible for us to adequately deal with his departure so short for the transfer window closed."
Newcastle manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew, on the other hand, has expressed disappointment at the bid being rejected. He was hopeful of bringing the striker to St. James’ Park this summer but unfortunately the offer didn’t match the terms set by the German outfit.
Freiburg are currently struggling this season with four points from as many games and will next be in action against Bayern Munich on Saturday, September 10. The striker has once again shown his true potential this season with four goals from three league
games after ending the 2010/11 season as runner-up to top goalscorer in Bundesliga, Mario Gomez. The striker snapped up 22 goals last campaign, six less than Bayern bomber Gomez.
Cisse has 32 goals to his name from 51 league appearances since joining the club in 2010. The 26-year-old has seven goals under his belt until now from 10 international games.
